Waking up the Press (and a New Ghost Cat)
It has been a quiet minute here on the blog, but the studio has been absolute chaos behind the scenes. Between prepping pieces for the upcoming Creature Comforts exhibition at Indigo Crow Gallery and sorting out a massive, long-overdue design upgrade to the website, the ink rollers have been sitting idle for a little bit too long.
This week, I finally got back to the block.
I’ve been working on a brand new limited edition linocut called Ghost Cat. Anyone with a cat knows that exact feeling when you spot a sudden, quiet flash of movement out of the corner of your eye, turn around, and there’s absolutely nothing there. It’s that spectral, silent attitude where a cat just effortlessly haunts a room.
I wanted to capture that blocky silhouette using heavy oil-based ink, carving out just enough negative space to let the cat’s shape hover on the paper while still being cute and silly.
Every single print in this run of is being inked and hand-pressed manually on the studio floor. Because it’s a completely traditional process—no digital shortcuts—no two pulls are identical. Each one comes off the block with its own unique quirks and textures.
They are fresh off the press and drying in the drawers right now. I’ll be dropping the official release on the store later this week, but if you want to snag one early, you can check out the listing details early right here:
Good to be back making a mess.
