A bit about me
I’ve never been great at sticking to one style, my brain just goes from 1 thing to the next. (Probably why I also have what looks like an art store in my studio!) Art has always been my passion and hitting 40 this year just made me realise I want to spend less time overthinking and more time making a mess.

Based here in Northern Ireland, everything usually starts with a 15 minute play around. I don’t sit down with a grand plan to make a pristine, perfect drawing. I just grab whatever material fits my mood that day. Some mornings that means getting my hands covered in charcoal dust, tracking down deep shadows and heavy lines. Other days, I need the slower, rhythmic focus of carving a linocut block, or messing around with spray paint, ink, and collage.

I’m naturally drawn to things with a bit of attitude. I love gritty, weathered landscapes, urban decay, and the chaotic layers of street graffiti. There’s so much life in those rough, imperfect spaces, and I try to bring that same energy into my art...

...whether I’m working on a local place study or trying to catch the weird and wonderful personality of a cat. (Speaking of cats, my own usually ends up walking over my work and leaves a trail of charcoal dust behind her!)

Because I don't use digital tricks or clean things up, my process is pretty unpredictable. A hand-pressed linocut will always have its own unique quirks. Charcoal leaves smudges and ghosts of previous lines behind on the paper. I purposely leave those raw marks visible. To me, that’s the best part.
